3 Ways To Regain Your Life

There could be lots of negative vibes and you just could not bring yourself out of your bed. You would want to sink in and waste your life away. There are times whereby such therapy will work and it is usually in the initial stages where you could be trying to get over a lost relationship, job loss, passing of a loved one, etc.

Basically, you just want to sleep through this whole traumatic experience and hope things will pan out better. However, there must be an eventual pivot point that you have to realise you need an action plan to get your life back in order. You need a schedule to normalise your lifestyle and not brood over what can’t be undone.

I would be sharing some of the activities and stuff I have been doing to try to get over this depressive stage that has been helpful to my soul so far.

Meditation

In the darkest ages of my life, I found meditation. I do think it would be able to calm yourself and focus on the present. It also leads to a more balanced life and makes you appreciate what you have. The most important thing is to try to prevent oneself from overthinking. All the Buddhist quotes you digest from watching YouTube or surfing the net do help tremendously to set up your mental self to deal with the adversities ahead.

I practice the breath meditation whereby the objective is to focus on your breath and nothing else. I got to know this approach through a free Buddhist booklet. At such a stage, religion does play an important part in nursing your soul back to a healthy condition. There was another great book called “Search Inside Yourself” which was by a Google Staff and is part of the Google Wellness Program. He did touch on some basic techniques that I found useful. There were some meditation books by monks which I have read that went kind of too deep and therefore it was hard to follow. Thus, they were not too reader-friendly.

10 Minutes of Meditation per day will do wonders to your recovery process. At the worst part of the depressive cycle, I could be meditating up to 5 times a day to calm myself and not let the overwhelming negative thoughts press me down.

Exercise

Nothing works better than working out a good sweat in eliminating negative vibes. The release of the endorphins will trigger a positive feeling in your body. It is extremely useful to reduce stress and grieve. So do try to exercise daily to give your body the therapy it needs to feel better. You could be one who does not exercise often but as the saying goes: “It takes 21 days to make it a habit and 3 months to make it a lifestyle.” Stop procrastinating and make this a part of your recovery process.

There could be numerous forms of exercises that you could engage yourself in. However, I find the following works best for me as it is just reconnecting with myself and could be done without any companionship.

  • Yoga
  • Hiits and Tabata
  • Taking a walk and reconnecting with Nature

Yoga is very effective in cultivating mindfulness and could have similar effects on meditation. A meditation session after an early morning yoga workout would work wonders for your day ahead. It also makes u connect with your body and learn to appreciate the different parts of your body that you might have neglected through the years. My favourite yoga videos that I followed on YouTube are Yoga Fightmaster, SarahBeth and PureYoga.

Hiits and Tabata are great as it is just meant for 20-30 minutes. Due to the intensity, it is supposedly a good way to burn off calories. Tabata is ideal if you are just starting out as each session is around 4 minutes; it would be very bearable. It is also good to include some weight sessions to strengthen and condition your muscles. Try to make it a goal to at least look better, fitter and have a healthier self despite the intense pressures and stress you are facing. My go-to channel for workouts will from the All Blanc from Korea. It is fantastic to work out with good music and with a modern backdrop.

Lastly, Nature Heals. By taking a walk or hike around natural greeneries or beaches will be soothing for your mind and soul. Therefore, do find time to have a relaxing walk and be able to see the positives and silver linings in your life.

Working Out a Schedule

The best way to stop worrying will be to be doing something that engages your mind. The concept is simple as we are tuned to be able to focus on doing one thing at a time. Therefore, do work out a schedule to make yourself busy through the day. It could be planning your day with yoga, workout and meditation sessions. You could also check out new dining places/cafes and do up some serious reading. Even attending some courses or learning new skillsets would be a good way to turn your attention to living the present; moving on to a better self and future.

Bottom line is to keep yourself occupied and engaged that you have less time to worry about things that you can’t control.

Conclusion

I hope by engaging in the different activities that I have suggested would help create a stronger and better self to deal with whatever life is throwing at you at this juncture. We just have to be strong and life goes on.

To end off this post, these are just some personal parting thoughts on how to regain back our life despite current adversity or obstacle we are facing:

  • We should all embrace the present and appreciate every living moment.
  • Your troubles could be resolved somehow and once you can accept this reality, you will straight away feel better.
  • Every problem will have a solution and an ultimate outcome. We just have to cooperate with the inevitable if things turn out towards the worst-case scenario.
  • However, we won’t go down without a fight. We will be gathering all the facts, strategise and try to come up with a well thought out solution that will likely improve the worst-case scenario.
  • Once this is done, things should pan out as it is meant to be; worrying or overthinking is not going to help matters.
  • The universe or higher being would not make a situation so unbearable that you cannot face it.
  • As time goes by, it is going to be the best cure and also allow you to accept what is meant to be.
